THE STRONGEST PROPHET — CH: 2 STORY 16

CONNECTED BY FATE

Rou and David nodded, and at that moment Eisen suddenly remembered that he have some questions to ask about their company in relation to what he knew when they were in the Pioneer City.

「Isn’t the Door of Soul quite a large company in Trading City?」

Both of them nodded to Eisen’s words.

「It’s been some time since we both started the company, and we have got myriads of professionals gathered together. Thanks to that, our company reached the neighboring cities since we deal with merchant to appraisals, blacksmith and escort quests. That is how our company’s name was popular in many cities.」

「Yes. As a company, we have made it big enough for the company to have many branches in different parts of the neighboring cities. In this way, we got to know the shops in Trading City.」

「I see. Since you called your company as partnership, does that mean both of you were the founders?」

「You could say it like that. Despite having different job class, David and I get along strangely well. That’s why we started a company that brings together people with various job class who would accept different kinds of requests. And now, we are working together as representatives.」[1]

Their words set him at ease. It was because he learned that they were the representatives of a large company, that’s why they were able to afford a good inn and the first-class seat. The Alchemist’s Atelier was composed of many alchemists. Eisen thought that because their company was called Door of Soul, it was a company composed of people who could invoke the spirits of words.[2]

‘It’s a company with a motley crew of professionals, and the surprising part is that these two created it.’

Eisen nodded while being surprised himself.

「It’s just as I thought. Neither of you knew that he is one of the representatives of the Door of Soul, but you still helped him, right?」

David asked Eisen such a question.

「Huh? Ah, yes we didn’t know. We just heard it just now from you.」

Rinne being Rinne, casually nodded to Eisen’s words. Such kind of phenomenon was new to them. Hearing this from the two, Rou and David smiled.

「Heh, now we are even more grateful for what you’ve done since you did it without knowing about us.」

「Indeed, it’s not bad to be known as a representative of a company and there are certainly merits to it… But that’s the reason why I’m grateful for everyone’s good intentions.」

David turned to Eisen afterwards.

「But despite not knowing about us, Eisen-san knew the name of the company. That really surprised us.」

「Oh, about that. A friend told me that she’s on good terms with a member of the Door of Soul. I just heard a few things from her.」

「You heard from a friend?」

「Yes. Do you know Yurika Griffon?」

As soon as Eisen mentioned Yurika’s name, their mouth opened wide and a shocking expression formed in their faces.

「The young lady Yurika―the president of the Alchemists Garden?」[3]

「Yes, Yurika. So you do know her.」

「Yes. She’s one of our client and a friend of ours who has been lending us a hand in making the company bigger. We have such connection.」

「So that must be it―I remembered that Yurika told me to give her letter to the representative of the Door of Soul.」

「A letter?」

Eisen really was lucky today. The people he was supposed to meet today and the people that he was meant to bring the letter for is just here. He was asked to give the letter to the representatives of the Door of Soul, and both Rou and David were the Door of Soul’s representative. Naturally, he would give it them. With that in his mind, he brought out the letter he got from Yurika and set it on the table.

「Will you take a look at this letter?」

Rou proceeds to pick up the letter and turned it around to see the whole envelope.

「The sender is certainly from the Alchemist’s Garden.」

「And this sealing wax is the kind of magic sealing wax that only the young lady Yurika uses. I was not doubting you, but now I’m very sure you know young lady Yurika.」

「Then, let me read this, Eisen-san.」

「Oh, please do.」

They took out the letter from the envelope and opened it for the two of them to read. At first, their eyes were reading the letter slowly from the top.

「「……HUH?」」

In the middle of it, the two of them tilted their heads and soon, the movement of their eyes paced up. Eisen thought that the two finished reading it, but their eyes were still glued to the letter. The two were reading letter intently, so they ate and waited for them to finish reading it. A few minutes passed since Eisen thought of that. It was also about time he finished the drink that was served to him.

「Um, Eisen-san? Is what written here true?」

Rou asked meekly towards Eisen.

「Yes. It’s the truth.」

Before Eisen took the letter, he was able to take a peak for a bit, and indeed the words written were not wrong. When he said that―

「P- Please wait a minute. Then… Eisen-dono―is really the Prophet Eisen Otis-dono? T-The master of the hundred heroes―!」[4]

David said this with his eyes wide open, but his words were very serious.

「Yes. I guess David already know about me.」

「Q-Quite so… So you’re that legendary figure? The one the bards often sing songs about The Prophet, The Master of the Hundred Heroes.」

「Indeed. But from what we have heard from the songs of the bards, you should have been very old by now but for some reason, your appearance speaks otherwise… Was it some kind of anti-aging magic?」

「Magic… Hmm. That’s about it. I lived in a place where time was still for a while and so I ended up like this… what are the contents of the bards songs?」

Eisen was not expecting this to happen. He thought that he was already forgotten.

「Well, you were a legendary figure. You were such an amazing man that all of the heroes calls you their master, however only a few number of people saw you. You might not have known this but the heroes would tell stories about you, so even if one hasn’t seen your face they at least have knowledge about you.」

「That’s right, but this is very shocking since it was very well-known that the Prophet job class was extinct… but I don’t think young lady Yurika lie about this.」

Rou nods to David’s words.

「I know you’re a man of integrity. I trust you, but I can’t believe we’re getting this kind of a bombshell information.」

「I can’t believe that the legendary Prophet Eisen-dono was on his journey around the word. Considering how vast his influence, he decided to silently visit his hundred apprentices incognito.」

Just as David said all of this――

「「AH!」」

The two shouted in unison.

「Huh? What’s wrong with you two?」

「I’m sorry―hold on, David. If Eisen-don is the legendary Prophet Eisen-dono, the master of the heroes, and the said man under those condition being explained in the letter―then this place is not a good place for him to be.」

「――Oh no. I just realized when you said it.」

「Yes? Anything’s wrong with that?」

Though Eisen’s tone was quite impatient, they did not particularly feel bad about it.

「No, it was just that this restaurant offers a variety of room and high quality meals―bringing in these professionals who could create them. And the versatile entertainer I told you about is particularly one of those wonderful people who rarely comes to the city――is actually one of the hundred heroes.」

Rou explained silently.

「What? Does that mean――」

「That’s right. One of Eisen-dono’s apprentice is currently here――」

Rou explain things to Eisen very quickly. At that moment――

「――This nostalgic sounds of heartbeats――no way?!」

It came from the small platform attached to the semi-private room. Following the direction of the voice, came a figure.

A small stage placed in a semi-private room.

Then, with his voice, came a figure.

「――as I thought! I finally found you! My dearest master!」[5]

Leaping from the platform was a beautiful woman with blonde hair. As soon as she landed her foot from the platform, she rushed towards their direction. There was an expression of confusion on Rou and David’s faces, and even Rinne showed a sign of panic as things escalated so quickly. Did they think of her as some kind of a thug? However, for Eisen her face was very familiar to him. So he welcomed her as he called out to her.

「I thought that it all sounded familiar――so you were the one that’s playing the instrument, Fyra.」

「Of course, it’s me! My dearest master’s apprentice, Fyra-chan, is here!」

T/N: So here’s an update. I thought I should try to finish one on the first week of the month. Anyways, Fyra here mentions her own name like those tsunderes in slapstick romcoms.

  1. CHANGES: Alchemists Atelier > Alchemists Garden – The author originally used 『錬金術士のアトリエ (Renkinjutsu-shi no Atorie)』or Alchemists Atelier in Chapter 2 but now uses『錬金術師の庭 (Renkinjutsu-shi no Niwa)』 which now reads as Alchemists Garden. From now on, I’ll use Alchemists Garden.
  2. Here the word play is『言霊 (Kotodama)』. As the word Kotodama means soul/spirit or power of words. And the name of the company is『言霊の扉(Kotodama no Tobira)』Door of Souls. This here is Eisen almost concluding that the members of the Door of Souls are Invoker Variants (Kotodama Tsuki)
  3. They put Yurika-jou here where the -jou means young lady.
  4. Here David and Rou would call Eisen with the archaic suffix -dono than -san.
  5. マスター (Masutaa) – Fyra here calls Eisen in katakana as ‘master’. Eisen is called in 2 different ways by his apprentices: shishou is usually addressed to a master of some traditional practice while sensei is used to someone elder or someone you give respect (Teacher, Doctors, etc.) I used to translate sensei as master but it should be teacher
